work 001: MERCY
MERCY draws imagery from an instagram user whose Lamborghini set on fire by an angry follower after posting frequent images of his luxury cars. This event provides the context for examining the way the instagram posts function ideologically and semiotically in the current economic landscape.
work 002: STILL LIFE
Still Life is a series of images in video or print that mimic historical images of conspicuous consumption in Art History, but they are remixed with popular instagram content in order to reflect the modern zeitgeist.
work 003: VACATION FOREVER
Vacation Forever is a part of the
installation Lamborghini Mercy that questions why reposting old vacation photos and images of leisure is a frequent behaviour of many instagram users. The instagram posts hashtagged vacation stretch seemingly infinitely from the ceiling to the nearest wall or end point.
work 004: READYMADE 001 + 002
Readymade 001 + 002 are digital paintings created from instagram comments and images from @rkoi’s feed. The pairings of images and texts examinine the way the posts function ideologically and semiotically in the current economic landscape.
